About Us

Our Story

The Veragua Rainforest began in 2004 as the initiative of a group of young Costa Rican entrepreneurs who believed in conservation, and who decided to create a nature experience with world-class service but with a very low environmental impact.  They bet on the development of the Province of Limón, with the goal of promoting tourism in the historically poor province--  and with an objective to help transform the area into a leading destination in the Caribbean.

They formed and led a group of capable and committed individuals, earned the trust of organizations, authorities, lenders and investors, and persevered in spite of countless challenges along the way. After more than four years of hard work, the Veragua Rainforest opened its doors on July 4th, 2008.

The Veragua Rainforest is a Costa Rican company that passionately believes in conservation. From the start, we set out to create a unique nature experience to immerse visitors in the rainforest in an unparalleled setting, and to bring sustainable development opportunities to surrounding communities.

Our goal is to move a region, historically devoted to hunting and the lumber industry,
toward conservation as a means to development and prosperity.

Veragua Rainforest Eco-Adventure retains local talent as its team members and is one of the larger employers in the Province of Limon.  Our training programs, including English language classes and scientific training, enable our team members to work in an environment of growth and realization of their potential.  Repeat visitors find that many employees are long-term Veragua team members, having been with us since the very beginning and committed to conservation.

To offer each visitor the best tropical rainforest experience in the Caribbean, with the highest quality of service, along with a firm commitment to support the development of our local communities and to promote education, research, and respect for the environment.

To be a worldwide model for tourist attractions in terms of conservation, research, and sustainability.
