About Us: Our Story
Veragua Rainforest began in 2004 through the initiative of a group of young Costa Rican entrepreneurs who believe in conservation, and who decided to create an experience packed with nature and world-class service with a very low environmental impact. In a visionary fashion, they bet on the development of Limón, with the goal of promoting tourism in the province and transforming the area into a leading destination in the Caribbean.
They started without the property, permits, financial means, scientific knowledge, nor access to the market. They formed and led a group of capable and committed individuals, earned the trust of organizations, authorities, lenders and investors, and persevered in spite of countless challenges along the way. After more than 4 years of hard work, Veragua Rainforest opened its doors on July 4th, 2008.
Our goal is to move a region, historically devoted to hunting and the lumber industry, toward conservation as a means to development and prosperity. This process has already begun.
