Veragua Rainforest was honored for its architectural design:
During the 2008 Costa Rican "IX Bienal de Arquitectura" (“IX Architectural Conference”), Veragua Rainforest architect, Juan Ignacio Acuña, received the Metalco award for his design use of ecologically sustainable construction techniques with steel. This is the Costa Rican version of the international "Pritzker Architecture Prize."
